The Appendix Carry Rig (ACR) was developed in early 2007 at the request of the instructor cadre at Modern Combative Systems (MCS). MCS curriculum teaches students to carry weaons forward of the hips in order to facilitate improved retention and maximize speed of deployment. Traditional holsters are poorly suited for this method of carry, so we developed a truly unique holster purpose-built for this technique.
This product takes the centerline carry method to the highest level of concealment, functionality and comfort. The ACR is designed to mount between 12:30 and 2:00 for right-handed shooters (or 10:00 and 11:30 for left-handed shooters). It is adjustable for both cant and ride depth. The shirt can also be tucked in over the weapon.
What separates the ACR from other AIWB-holsters on the market is its extremely slim profile and adjustability. Most AIWB holsters are made from thick Kydex folded around the pistol, with a pair of non-adjustable loops attached at the widest part of the holster. That method of construction makes those holsters very bulky, hindering both comfort and concealability. It also makes the holster more likely to shift and tilt on the belt. In sharp contrast to that approach, the ACR uses an innovative offset pair of attachment points mounted to our signature slim-line pancake style of design.
The base holster shell comes with two high-strength polymer struts that mount to the shooter’s belt using our IWB soft loops. The front/slide-side strut has a set of reinforced mounting eyelets that allow the user to select from three ride depths. A corresponding slot in the holster shell allows the clip to rotate for different cant angles. When the holster is set to ride higher, the strut extends past the muzzle end of the holster to provide leverage to keep the grip from tilting away from the body. This is especially helpful for compact and sub-compact pistols. If the extension is unneeded or uncomfortable, it can be trimmed.
The rear/trigger guard-side attachment is a wing with the soft loop mounted to the far edge. This attachment point performs two important functions. First, it adds an additional point of contact with the shooter’s belt to provide stability and prevent the holster from rotating during the draw. The stiffness of the wing also pulls the grip in tight to the body to aid in concealment. The wing is adjustable to match the cant and depth of the front clip. It can also be removed if the user finds it unneeded or uncomfortable.
The ACR is NOT compatible with Eclipse Modular IWB/OWB Accessories.
